Synod Videos (3)

An entire month of synod- and TASC-related duties (along with an ongoing heap of unfinished schoolwork) has caused an unfortunate delay in my contributions to URC Psalmody.  The blog is currently in transition to a broader “multi-author” format, and the special features related to Synod 2012 have created a bit of disorder.  Soon, however, I hope things will settle down.  I can’t wait to report my amazing week at TASC to you, and I’m also eager to read Jim Oord’s ongoing contributions.  For now, however, here are three more videos of the psalms and hymns of synod.

The first two songs were morning selections of praise: “For All the Saints” on Tuesday morning and “With Grateful Heart My Thanks I Bring” on Wednesday.

442, “For All the Saints”

286, “With Grateful Heart My Thanks I Bring”

The third song was undoubtedly one of the best selections from synod.  Before number 411 was sung, one of the delegates grumbled to me that ADESTE FIDELES sounded too much like “a Christmas song.”  Regardless of any holiday connotation, I think even he was converted to the beauty of the tune by the end of the worship session.  Many of you may have already heard a bit of this hymn, thanks to the quick work of Rev. Dr. Brian Lee, but here, in its entirety, is number 411, “How Firm a Foundation.”

Stay tuned for more musical meanderings!
